Chartis Insurance firm has put a piece of a miracle story up for sale on its auction website. The US Airways Airbus A-320 passenger jet that made a miraculous landing on the frigid waters of the Hudson River in New York is now up for grabs to the highest bidder.
The aircraft is part of the famous “miracle on the Hudson” story that took place on January 15, 2009. Shortly after taking off from La Guardia Airport the jet encountered a flock of geese which caused both engines to fail. Its captain, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, successfully glided the crippled airliner to a water landing on the Hudson river, saving all 155 lives aboard his aircraft.
The severely damaged airplane comes complete with everything except its two engines that were lost in the accident. The plane will be listed on the website aigaviation.com until March 27.
