Today was a day that showed off the goodness in people’s hearts. Seneca College put on an all day fundraising campaign known as “Aftershock”. It was a student run and designed event created to raise money for the earthquake ravaged people in Haiti. It was also raising money for a very good cause, Doctors without Borders, an organization that is prominently aiding people in the country.
There were several venues set up in the Seneca @ York campus today. A concert that featured music from the independent music program students, a hypnotist, cotton candy and popcorn stands and much more. All money raised at these venues went directly to the cause. Also volunteers roamed the halls of the campus with buckets collecting donations from faculty and students.
It was amazing to see how many people approached the donation collectors and dropped whatever they could spare in the buckets. Even amidst these poor economic times people still found a way to help out. It is truly heart warming to see the goodness that still exists in the hearts of people.
